The Mobius Institutes opioid training center (MOIR) and the Mobias educational institute (MEI) are located in the Bronx, New York, which is where most of the opioid deaths and overdoses occur.
While the two organizations are not affiliated, they have close ties, and both are run by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a former member of Donald Trump’s transition team and former presidential candidate.
According to the New York Post, the MEI has been involved in drug-testing the thousands of people who have signed up for its opioid education and training program.
MEI is also in the process of testing the thousands more people who are attending its opioid addiction and treatment classes.
The MEI, which was started in 2000 and currently offers classes in “how to become an effective and safe opioid addict,” has been in the news in recent months for its efforts to train thousands of heroin addicts.
In a statement to the NY Post, Mobius President and CEO Michael L. Gorman said, “The Mobius Training Institute (MTOI) and Mobias Education Institute (MEII) are the only federally recognized opioid treatment and rehabilitation centers in New York state, and they are the primary providers of opioid addiction education and treatment services.
Mobius has been the largest provider of addiction treatment services in New England and New York State since 1999.”
Gorman also said that the MEII, which opened in 2015, is not affiliated with the Giuliani administration.
In the meantime, Giuliani, who was previously an adviser to Trump, was named head of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.
“Trump is committed to a national drug policy that puts the safety of Americans first,” Gorman added.
According to The Post, Giuliani has repeatedly praised the MEIs efforts to teach and train the drug addicts in the area.
“This is not the first time we’ve had to respond to this, but it’s going to be the first opportunity that we’ve been able to put our resources in,” Giuliani said in May, according to the Post.
“It’s going be a lot easier to do that than to have to fight this.”
In a May interview with the New Yorker, Giuliani said that he has “great respect” for the MEi and Mobius, which he said is a “good place to start” for those who are addicted.
