A Carpenter training institute has been set up in Dublin with the aim of training people in carpentry from the start of their careers.
The National Carpental Training and Training Association (NCTTA) has been formed to provide training to people in Ireland.
It is now set to offer training to apprentices and full-time workers as well as apprentices who want to train in carpets.
The institute will be based in Dublin and run by the Carpet Industry Council of Ireland (CIII).
The aim is to increase apprenticeship opportunities in carpeting in Ireland and to help train people in a wide range of trades.
The NCTTA said the aim was to provide a solid foundation for future apprenticeship and training opportunities and to encourage young people to seek carpentry skills.
“The idea behind the NCTTA is to provide young people with the foundation to continue in the carpentry industry, and help them become the next generation of carpentry professionals in Ireland,” said NCTTA Executive Director Paul Byrne.
“As well as developing and developing the skills they need to succeed in the industry, apprenticeships offer apprentices a range of benefits, including career advancement, employment and career progression.”
The new centre will be located in the centre of Dublin and will provide training for both the apprentice and full time worker.
The centre will also offer training in carpetry, carpentry machinery and carpentry equipment.
The first group of apprentices are expected to complete a three-week apprenticeship in April, and the group will be expected to graduate in May.
The apprenticeship will be an opportunity for people to work for free, with the opportunity to receive support and to work alongside fellow apprentices.NCTATA said apprenticeships would also be beneficial to apprentices who wanted to gain experience, gain confidence, gain a new role or learn a new trade.
“It’s a really exciting opportunity for us,” said Mr Byrne.
“I think there are many opportunities out there for people who want the opportunity, who want experience.”
We know that apprenticeship is a great opportunity for young people, especially if they’re already having some apprenticeship experience.
We have apprenticeships that will be available in the future.”NCTACA said the apprenticeship programme would be a first of its kind in the country.
