Why we need a new sheriff to fix America’s broken criminal justice system

The FBI is hiring a new director to investigate allegations of racial profiling and other abuses in the wake of the deadly protests in Baltimore.

The announcement comes after the FBI announced it would hire two people in an investigation into whether officers used excessive force against demonstrators in Baltimore last year.

The new FBI director will replace James Comey, who stepped down as the agency’s director in February.

Comey’s firing came as he announced that the FBI had discovered that agents had been instructed not to question protesters during a raid at a Baltimore jail in 2016.
